Princeton Pi Day & Einstein Birthday Party

Albert Einstein was born on March 14th ..... 3.14 ..... the numeric equivalent of pi!   Einstein lived in Princeton for over twenty years and described the town as "paradise".

Princeton has been home to incredible scientific genius like John von Neumann, John Wheeler, Kurt Godel and Robert Oppenheimer.  Today, John Nash (the inspiration of the movie, Beautiful Mind), Peter Guthrie (the inspiration for Rain Man), John Conway, Alice Chang and Elias Stein call Princeton their home.

Princeton celebrates all of these quirky coincidences during out Geek Freak Weekend in 2012.

Princeton Pi Day is one of several showcase events being held this year in honor of the Library's centennial.  All proceeds from the sale of Pi Day Tours & Maps provided by Princeton Tour Company will be donated to support the Library.

Events include a Geek Freak Pub Crawl, Pie Eating Contest, Pie a No Sock Hop (Einstein didn't like to wear socks), interactive walking tours of Einstein's favorite Princeton hang outs, science projects hosted by Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, pie judging contests, pi recitation contests and, of course, an Einstein look-alike contest!

Princeton Shopowners join in the fun by pricing items at $3.14 and hosting all sorts of entertaining events. Don't be surprised if the entire waitstaff of many establishments are dressed up like the world's most loveable genius!

This is a birthday weekend you never want to miss!
