  • Make sure you are in Palmer Square for New Year’s Eve! A new event for New Year’s Eve will happen and it is a ball drop that will light up top the Hermes building that is the last building followed by a driveway. The flagpole, light up year marquee numbers (we will call it the numerals or the year sign), and the ball will be shown in the center of Palmer Square around sometime in between late November and Later December. Around later December right around Christmas time and right before New Year’s Eve the pole will be installed up top of the building, and the ball will be placed in the pole. The light up numbers sign will be installed on the front of the pole on top of the roof. The original plans was to put it up top 40 Palmer Square, but it is now planned to be on the Hermes building. TVs and screens will be placed around Palmer Square to display the animated countdown, and the two main screens will be on the sidewalk right in front of Hermes. Concerts will happen in front of the Nassau Inn, and food and drinks will be served nearby. The 60 second countdown will be animated, and it will be tested and shown on the screens in Palmer Square later. The screens show more things like events in Palmer Square and in Princeton, counts down until holidays , and etc. . The days and weeks before New Year’s Eve the ball drop, light up year sign, pulley/ pulley motor that makes the string(s)/rope(s) go up and down that goes through the ball will be test run. A flagpole with (a) string(s)/ rope(s)/ cable(s). The fireworks will be tested and used on New Year’s. The ball has around 50-100 lights/ light bulbs and is around 4-6 feet, likely 5 feet in diameter. The light bulbs on the ball might change color, and during the countdown it would be better to make the ball light up white, blue, or event tan, or whatever, but it can light up well. This is a suggestion for a brand new event in Palmer Square and Princeton. This event would be a great event in Palmer square. Square.
