Get ready because Princeton is bound to turn into a winter wonderland very soon. And we love it because despite the frigid temps you can still have an incredible experience in town. Don’t believe us? Not in love with the snow? Well we have our top outdoor and indoor activities below to enjoy every bit of that snow day. Even if it’s because your kids force you to. Let it snow!

Palmer Square’s Eco Friendly Outdoor Skating Rink

Hulfish Street behind the Nassau Inn Hotel, Princeton

https://www.visitprinceton.org/event/skating-on-the-square/16007/

One of our favorite winter activities is ice skating, which is why we’re very excited about Palmer Square’s brand new ice skating rink! What makes it eco friendly? The “ice” is a high-quality synthetic material called Glice, which is a unique non-refrigerated skating surface that performs like ice but requires none of complex compressors, piping, water, refrigerant and power of a conventional ice rink.  Read more here. The added addition of the rink being outside so we can fully embrace the beauty of this season makes it that much more special.

Open Skate Days/Times:

  • Thursday – Friday, 4pm – 7pm
  • Saturday – Sunday, 12pm – 3pm & 4pm – 7pm
  • $10 per person (includes skate rental!)
  • See website for specific holiday hours

Sledding at Princeton University

Whitman College, Princeton University, Princeton

Once it starts snowing, it's impossible to not enjoy sledding down a hill holding on for dear life. Am I right? The thrill will keep you going back for more. The hill behind Whitman College is one of our top secret sledding spots. We also like the hill at Springdale Golf Club.

Depending on the road conditions, why not stay warm by making your snow day a movie day (or night)? It’s the perfect reason to stay warm & dry, and catch up on that flick you’ve been meaning to see all season. There are kid friendly movie events there as well!

Princeton Public Library

If you have kids in tow, you can head over to the library and read a book in front of their fireplace. The kids have plenty of activities there to keep themselves busy if story time isn’t cutting it.
