Dating to 1697, Pennington Borough maintains its historic ambience today. On Main Street, well-kept houses display plaques engraved with dates from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Many of the fine buildings remain private residences. Others, keeping pace with the borough's lively, contemporary mood, have been transformed into comfortable coffee shops, restaurants and specialty shops. Away from the quaint downtown, houses of varying ages and architectural styles line quiet streets. Developments of new single-family homes, apartments, senior housing, condominiums and townhouses add to the housing selection. Pennington has public bus service and is close to major roads. The Hopewell Valley YMCA offers activities for people of all ages.
